Introduction

The Culture Impact Foundation Africa is committed to fostering the mobility of cultural operators and artists in East Africa. We recognize the vital role mobility plays in expanding creative horizons, facilitating cross-cultural exchange, and enhancing the region’s artistic vibrancy. In this spirit, we are pleased to announce our Mobility Grant Call Culture Safari inviting applications from individuals and organizations in the cultural and creative sectors across East Africa on a rolling basis.

Objective

The Mobility Grant aims to support and enable East African cultural operators and artists to embark on journeys that will enrich their creative experiences, knowledge, and networks. We believe that by facilitating mobility, we can contribute to the growth and diversity of the cultural landscape in the region. This grant specifically supports mobility in terms of flights and mobility tickets, and applicants are required to demonstrate a clear accommodation plan with another organization or cultural institution in East Africa.

Grant Categories

  1. Individual Mobility Grants: These grants are designed to assist individual artists, cultural professionals, and researchers in East Africa to travel for research, collaboration, residencies, or other creative pursuits within or outside the region.
  2. Group Mobility Grants: These grants support cultural and artistic groups, collectives, and organizations in East Africa to participate in international events, festivals, exhibitions, workshops, or collaborative projects.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be East African citizens or have legal residence in East Africa.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to the cultural and creative sectors.
  • Individual applicants should have a minimum of two years of professional experience in their respective fields.
  • Group applicants must be registered as non-profit cultural organizations, associations, or collectives.

Application Requirements

Applicants are required to submit a comprehensive application package including:

  1. A strictly one-page detailed project proposal outlining the purpose and objectives of the mobility project.
  2. A budget indicating the proposed use of the grant, including travel, accommodation, and related expenses.
  3. A CV or portfolio showcasing the applicant’s or group’s past work.
  4. Letters of support or recommendation.
  5. Proof of invitation, acceptance, or collaboration from the host organization or partner.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Artistic, Impact, and cultural merit of the project.

Grant Details

  • The grant is intended to cover travel expenses only.
  • Recipients are expected to provide a project report upon their return to share their experiences and outcomes.
