Targeted Investment Impact Opportunity
for Creative Industries
in East Africa
Supporting Artists, Culture Practitioners,
and creatives that are fostering
social and civic community
change in the East African Region.
The Culture Impact Fund (CIF) Africa is the first targeted impact investment opportunity benefiting artists and other creatives in East Africa. The fund provides flexible grants and loans to non-profit and mission-driven organizations in the creative sector that seek to build resilient and inclusive communities and
also those that own, lease and manage affordable spaces for businesses in creative industries, so that these businesses can get started, take root and thrive contributing to East Africa’s Social economic development.
With the support of this Fund, individuals who run art led organizations, creative businesses or manage affordable spaces within the creative economy have the resources needed to strengthen East Africa’s economy and cultural landscape.
How does the Culture Impact
Fund benefit the creative industries?
By establishing and preserving affordable spaces for craft, manufacturing, business incubation, maker/artist studios, and performance and visual cultural activities, the Fund will foster quality middle-skill job opportunities for low- and moderate-income creatives in East Africa. By focusing on projects that provide ongoing access to
affordable space, the Fund ensures that creative and cultural activities that would otherwise be at risk of displacement have an assured position in East Africa, and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
The fund is premised on the belief that art, design, culture, heritage and creativity can benefit people, communities, society and the planet- and that impact capital inform of grants, and investment loans will be a vital tool to support growth and development of the Creative Economy in East Africa.
